It might be 15 years since the Spice Girls’ last album, but Victoria Beckham says she’s still singing from the same Girl Power hymn sheet.
The hugely successful fashion designer revealed that she struggled with
her confidence when beginning her clothing line and turned to her former
band’s famous mantra for inspiration.
Speaking to US Glamour, she said: “I did have to find myself and my
confidence. And I want to make other women feel like the best version of
themselves. That’s the same message as the Spice Girls. It’s still Girl Power.”
Victoria, 41, has been voted one of Glamour’s Women Of The Year, but she
said that the move from pop star to respected designer hasn’t been an
easy one.
“Nothing ever came naturally to me. I was never the cleverest, never
best at anything. But we always tell our children that if you work hard
and believe in yourself, you can do what you want,” she admitted.

Victoria is married to former footballer David and “Brand Beckham” is
now estimated by experts to be worth £470 million, with her growing
fashion business bringing in £30m in 2013.
Glamour praised Posh Spice for turning an initial 10-dress collection
into an empire that has seen her clothe almost every major female name
in Hollywood, including Oprah Winfrey, Kate Winslet and Jennifer
Lawrence.
She launched her eponymous collection in 2008 and now owns a flagship
store in London’s Mayfair and is in the process of setting up a shop in
New York.
Victoria was also honoured for her work as a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador,
and for raising $4 million to benefit Aids and HIV charities such as
The Elton John Foundation.
Bandmate Mel B, aka Scary Spice, said she wasn’t surprised by her friend’s success.
“She’s broken the mould,” she said. “And she’s the funniest, naughtiest, dirtiest pal to sit next to at dinner.”
Victoria was one of the celebrities proving Girl Power is alive and well in the Women of the Year issue, which also included Reese Witherspoon and Caitlyn Jenner.
