Twelve Sculptors Attempt To Build World's Largest Sand Castle
Not only is the size of the sand
sculpture incredible but the details that go into it is also fascinating. In
addition to 5 Guinness World Records for the tallest sculpture, the company
also has two world records for the world's longest sand sculpture.
Sand sculptors work on creating what
they hope will be the world's tallest sand castle when it is completed at the
Virginia Key Beach on October 20, 2015 in Key Biscayne, Florida. The company
has set 7 Guinness World Records including the World's Tallest in January of
2008 in Tacoma, Washington at 34 feet 8 5/8 inches.
The Turkish Airlines is sponsoring
the castle that is being built by the Sand Sculpture co., the sculptors will
use about 1,800 tons of sand in their attempt to beat the current world record
of 41 feet and 3.67 inches.
The team of 12 sculptors working on
the masterpiece is led by 7-time record holder Ted Siebert. Siebert even has
his very own book titled "The Art of Sandcastling" as well as
"Sandcastle in a Box."
The team of 12 sculptors are from
the Sand Sculpture Company, an elite sand castle creating company that holds
dozens of world records. Here, one of the sculptors put the finishing touches
on one side of the massive work of art on Oct. 20, 2015.
