Funnyman Bob Saget continues to distance himself from his embattled former mentor.
The "Full House" star reflected on Bill Cosby's
marred legacy, calling the comedian's alleged transgressions
"despicable" and lamenting his fall from grace during a Tuesday
interview with HuffPost Live.
"I think any human being that does things that are despicable to other human beings will be slightly tarnished by history," Saget responded to a fan's video query about Cosby's place in comedy history.
"I went to (Cosby's alma mater) Temple University, and he was a mentor
of mine, and (we were) on 'The Tonight Show' two weeks before Johnny
Carson went off, and it's very sad," he added. "I think the answer is
obvious, that the man has been tarnished. And it's just sad for all of
the people involved."
"It's an area I don't usually delve into, but you're a very brave
woman," he told the questioner. "And I brought a briefcase of pills to
give to you."
Saget previously weighed in on Cosby during a September interview with Philadelphia radio station WMMR, remarking, "People that are your heroes are sometimes incredibly disappointing by turning out to be d----ey people."
The 78-year-old comedian — who has shied from the spotlight since more
than 50 women have accused him of sexual abuse in recent months — was recently photographed
with his wife, Camille Cosby, for the first time in over a year. The
two were spotted on Sunday leaving a New York City townhouse.
The disgraced “Cosby Show” star has never been charged with a crime in
connection to the sex abuse scandal, and has firmly maintained his
innocence.
