Gwen Stefani reportedly pulled the plug on her 13-year marriage to
rocker Gavin Rossdale after discovering that he had been sleeping with
their kids’ nanny.
“This was done right under Gwen’s nose,” a family insider claimed to Us Weekly.
Reps for Stefani and Rossdale did not respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
Stefani, 46, became aware of her husband’s three-year affair with longtime nanny Mindy Mann in February, the mag alleges.
The “Underneath It All” singer reportedly discovered Rossdale’s
explicit texts with Mann on
the family’s iPad — including naked photos
of Mann and plans to meet up for sex.
“The iPad was linked to Gavin’s phone,” a family insider told the
magazine. “One of the other nannies discovered the exchange and told
Gwen.”
Mann, who had been helping to take care of the couple’s three sons —
Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 20 months — was reportedly fired after
Stefani discovered the steamy texts.
Rossdale is said to have initially claimed that the exchange was merely
a “flirtation” before admitting the three-year affair to Stefani a few
months later.
The 50-year-old rocker’s confession “completely devastated her,” the
source said about Stefani. “She was mortified, livid, and embarrassed.”
The revelation of her husband’s longtime affair — which even took place
while Stefani was pregnant with their youngest son — is what led her to
file for divorce in August, the magazine reports.
Last month, the singer hinted at her heartbreak when she debuted the ballad "Used to Love You" during a New York concert.
"I thought I was the best thing that ever happened to you," Stefani sings in the ballad.
"There were no boundaries, but you just pushed me too far," she croons
later in the song. "I guess nobody taught you, nobody taught you how to
love."
The alleged reason behind Stefani and Rossdale’s split has close
parallels to another A-list couple that called it quits this year: Ben
Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
Garner reportedly filed for divorce from the “Argo” star in June after discovering his affair with the family's nanny Christine Ouzounian.
Rossdale and Affleck are not the only stars who allegedly committed
adultery with the nanny: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ethan Hawke and Jude Law
are among the celebs whose relationships were undone by similar
affairs.
As for Stefani, she has begun to bounce back from her painful split
with her husband: She and her “Voice” co-star Blake Shelton went public with their romance last week.
