He served his “Purpose”
Justin Bieber closed the 2015 American Music Awards Sunday night with a dance-heavy performance to three of his songs off his No. 1 album “Purpose.”
The Canadian-born singer started off mellow with an acoustic rendition
of “What Do You Mean?” while casually swaying on stage in a baseball
hat, hoodie and ripped jeans, then transitioned into the dance hit
“Where Are U Now.”

The 21-year-old singer forcefully dropped the mic during the chorus and
broke it down on stage leading a fleet of dancers amid bright
Technicolored flashing lights.
He then made it rain on stage during “Sorry,” where he sang and danced soaking wet without slipping on stage.
Fellow pop star Ariana Grande — who won the award for Favorite Female
Artist for the Pop/Rock category — nodded and sang along from the
audience, but one familiar fan was missing as the camera panned to the
starstruck audience.
On and off girlfriend Selena Gomez wasn’t shown during Bieber’s performance, despite the duos recent reunion.
The twosomeshowed plenty of affectionon
a stroll through Beverly Hills Friday after Bieber serenaded the
23-year-old singer at a hotel bar Friday belting out “My Girl” by the
Temptations and his own hit, “Sorry” as Gomez watched front and center
at the Montage Hotel.
Their relationship status is still unclear, though Bieber told Access
Hollywood earlier this month that he’s “never going to stop loving her.”
The pop stars showed up to the AMA red carpet separately — Bieber clad
in a Nirvana T-shirt while Gomez dressed to impress in a sleek sequins
red dress.
