Six horrible things that can happen to your penis

It’s not always a happy ending for some men.

If a man isn’t careful, there are some horrible things that can go wrong with his penis.

 

Here is a list of some lesser-known penile problems (warning — this article contains graphic content):

1. Invaginated penis.

An invaginated penis occurs when your little guy (or big guy) gets shoved back into your body, often as the result of an accident. It gets buried in subcutaneous fatty tissue and becomes basically unusable, although the condition can be corrected with surgery.

Dr. Hsin-Kai Wang of Taipei Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan told Men’s Health that the condition “resembles an empty sheath of skin not unlike the end of an elephant’s trunk.”

The problem can also be caused by morbid obesity, according to a 1988 study published in the International Journal of Obesity.

2. Tuberculosis of the penis.

Tuberculosis can affect more than the lungs; it’s a bacterial disease so, in theory, it can happen anywhere.

Fortunately, penile TB is rare, according to a review of literature published in Scientifica.

It can occur when someone with the more common pulmonary form of TB performs a circumcision or when someone without TB has sex with someone who recently had it.

The infection results in nodules or masses that grow over time, eventually creating a disfigured member.

3. Accidental removal.

Famously, Wu-Tang’s Andre Johnson cut off his own johnson last year while high on PCP.

But the rapper was surprisingly not bothered by the horrible ordeal.

“I definitely believe sex is for mortals, and I am god. So this is a blessing, not a curse,” he told the Daily News in a 2014 interview.

Some guys weren’t so happy about it, though.

In 2011, Phillip Seaton of Kentucky sued a surgeon for $16 million after the doctor improperly removed his penis during a surgical procedure.

In some cases, not having a penis is correctable by surgery.

In October, a British man born without a penis revealed plans to have a penis surgically recreated using part of his arm.

4. Saxophone penis.

Saxophone penis is caused by swelling — in a vaguely saxophone-like shape — due to blocked lymph nodes or certain bacterial infections.

“This rare condition leaves the penis swollen and twisted,” Men’s Health reported.

Although sex may not be possible, men suffering from the condition can usually still urinate normally.

5. Broken penis

Even though it doesn’t actually contain any bones, it’s still possible to fracture your penis.

Basically, a penis is made up of three tubes, two of which fill up with blood when the penis is erect. The third tube is the urethra, through which passes urine.

If the other two tubes are full — if you’re hard — and the penis is subject to too much force (i.e., really rough sex), then the tissue can rupture.

If that happens, according to Men’s Health, you will “probably lose your erection right away, similar to what happens if you stick a pin in a blown-up balloon.”

6. Urethral closing

Technically known as urethral stricture, this condition most often happens as the result of inflammation or scar tissue.

That means that it can be caused by surgery or penile implants — but it can also be caused by straddle injuries, things like falling on a bicycle or getting kicked in the testicles.

According to Healthline, the symptoms can include discharge, blood in urine and the inability to pee.

Though he didn’t go into detail about which of those symptoms he experienced, earlier this year Jimmy Kimmel said that he once suffered a urethral stricture.

According to Men’s Health, Kimmel said that his urethra “kind of closed up on its own. I don’t know why it happened. I still don’t know why.”

Fortunately, the talk show star was able to get the problem fixed. He had surgery once, but then, “They said, ‘Yeah, we didn’t really get it. It didn’t quite work. We have to do it again.’ And they did it again,” he said.
