The Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr
Francis Maku, has described the Appeal Court judgment in favour of
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a victory for democracy and the rule of law.

Maku, at Koko, headquarters of the local government area, when some
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faithful paid him a courtesy visit over
the governor’s victory at the appellate court, said the judgment had
reaffirmed the massive votes by Deltans for Okowa during the last
governorship election, adding that the Nigerian judiciary has again
demonstrated that it was the last hope of the common man and the
oppressed.
He expressed thanks to God Almighty who made it possible for the
victory and the Nigerian judiciary, which stood for fairness and equity
as the hallmark of Nigeria’s nascent democracy.
Maku said that the high level of jubilation in the state was a clear demonstration that Governor Okowa is the man of the people.
He urged the PDP faithful to see the victory as part of their gate to
gate campaigns which they did to market the political credentials of
the governor.
He urged them not to relent in their prayers for the country and the
state to enable her overcome the current economic downturn resulting
from the fall in oil prices.
