2016 Ram Rebel Deals: Rebates, Financing and Leasing

Climbing into the sky west of Edwards Air Force Base, gently throttling a throbbing 5.7-liter “Hemi” V8 engine with my right foot as the 33-inch Toyo Open Country all-terrain tires grapple with rocks and loose dirt, the 4-corner air suspension raised to its highest setting, I briefly look away from the trail ahead of the Ram Rebel and say to my driving instructor: “Off-roading scares the crap out of me.”

 

Fortunately, given a wide enough path to accommodate the truck’s substantial girth, the Ram Rebel has what it takes to go where few trucks dare tread. Safely off the mountain, switching out of 4-Lo, and grabbing a stretch of blacktop, I recall feeling newfound appreciation for Ram’s full-size light-duty pickup truck, and specifically the new Rebel off-roading model.

Now, for a limited time, the Ram Rebel is on sale, available for less than $40,000. But you’d better hurry. Some of these offers expire on January 18, 2016, while others are available through February 1.

Incentives and Rebates

Ram prices the Rebel from $44,465, and if you want 4-wheel drive that’s going to be an extra $1,930, bringing the tally to $46,395. Each price includes the destination charge of $1,195.

The good news is that you can get up to $4,500 in rebate cash on this truck. Plus, Ram is offering a $1,000 bonus rebate on “select inventory,” which likely applies to those vehicles sitting in inventory for the longest period of time. There is a caveat to obtaining these deals: You’ll need to finance the truck through Chrysler Capital.

Financing Offers

Alternatively, Ram Rebel buyers can accept $3,000 in cash and finance the truck for 48 months without paying a dime of interest. Extend payments up to 84 months at 2.9 percent and pocket $500. Clearly, your local Ram dealership has a program that can help to make a Rebel more affordable in terms of a monthly payment.

Leasing Deals

If you’d rather not buy a Ram Rebel, the lease deal is pretty decent. If you can scrape together $2,999 to put down when you sign the 36-month lease contract, and you’re willing to cap your driving at 36,000 miles for the 3-year term, then you can drive a Rebel with 2-wheel drive for $439 per month plus tax. You can get 4-wheel drive for $20 extra per month.

Why We Recommend the Ram Rebel

Off-roading really does scare the crap out of me. I’ve gotten stuck in snow in the Rocky Mountains near Denver and had to hike out. I’ve nearly rolled an SUV down a California mountainside. I’ve slid a truck backwards down a muddy hill, almost completely out of control. Any day of any week, I’d rather be on a track at high speed than crawling along a difficult trail.
