Caitlyn Jenner has pulled the plug on her upcoming speaking tour.
The reality star was set to kick off her “Up Close and Personal” tour in Toronto on Feb. 22, with stops also scheduled in Vancouver, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle.
But Jenner will not be hitting the road anytime soon, since “certain
dates had to be cancelled due to other work commitments,” her rep told
the Daily News.
“She had already completed a speaking engagement in Chicago and will be able to book additional dates at a later time.”
Booked as part of the Unique Lives & Experiences lecture series,
ticket prices for the five-city tour ranged from $40 to $500 for VIP
seats.
As of Thursday, the organization’s website had taken down the page featuring Jenner’s tour.
Some outlets speculated that slow ticket sales were to blame, with TMZ reporting that the Toronto venue events still had “a lot” of tickets available for her event.
The former Olympian is an experienced public speaker: Prior to her
transition when she was known as Bruce Jenner, the star toured the
country as a motivational speaker and commanded a fee starting at $75,000, according to Speaking.com.
But as Caitlyn, she has experienced some controversy as she has
attempted to embrace her role as a spokesperson for the transgender
community.
During her Chicago speaking engagement in November, she was confronted by protesters who claimed she was “an insult to trans people.”
