Ariel Winter open up about Breast reduction Surgery: ‘Suddenly, people didn’t want to talk about my job — they just wanted to talk about my Cleavage’

The “Modern Family” star has opened up about the struggle she faced as a young girl with big breasts growing up in a hypersexualized industry.
“Women are already over-sexualized, and I grew into my body so young. I was 13, 14 years old, and I looked 19,” Winter wrote in a personal essay for Motto, a new website created by the editors of Time.

The 18-year-old details how she felt her bust caused her to get turned down for “younger” roles and attracted unwanted attention from creepy older guys.
“Suddenly, people didn’t want to talk about my job — they just wanted to talk about my cleavage,” she said.

The topic of Winter’s body has returned to public discussion in recent months.

On Feb. 16, the star took to Twitter to assure her fans that the decision to leave her breast reduction scars visible at the SAG awards was on purpose after social media users made a fuss online.

“Guys there is a reason I didn’t make an effort to cover up my scars!” she tweeted. “They are part of me and I’m not ashamed of them at all.”

Back in 2015, the starlet fell victim to vicious trolling when commenters posted vulgar remarks under a photo of her wearing a bikini — and then argued the actress “knew what she was doing” when she shared the photo online.
However, Winter insisted online bullies had no influence in her decision to have breast-reduction surgery.

“People may find it hard to believe, but when I got my breast-reduction surgery last year, it wasn’t because of the mean comments online,” she wrote.
“Having so much weight on my frame was affecting me psychologically. I was uncomfortable and unhappy. I chose surgery because of how I felt, not because of what anyone else thought,” she added.

The pint-sized actress said she automatically felt happier both mentally and physically post-op and the decision to undergo surgery was all her own.
“In the end, I think it’s all about how you feel—not what other people think,” she said.
