'Empire' star Serayah says fans on the street don’t always react well to seeing her
out with straight hair — a look she sometimes sports off-camera.
“She was so upset because my hair was straight,” she recalled of a
recent run-in with a female fan. “But I get it. I’ve grown up with curly
hair and being biracial and things like that, so it’s been a part of my
life and I completely understand why they’re obsessed that I’m on
television with the way my hair is.”
Serayah (inset), a card-carrying member of Taylor Swift’s squad, told
us about her hair-raising experience while getting ready for Thursday’s “Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection,”
sponsored by the American Heart Association. There, the 20-year-old
actress will join Debbie Gibson, Florence Henderson, Olivia Culpo, Sofia
Richie and Vanna White as celebrity models in the annual charity
fashion show that combats cardiovascular disease.
That’s not the only celeb crowd Serayah has been running with these
days. She tells us that appearing in Swift’s “Bad Blood” video has
helped her become chummy with the pop superstar’s gang of girls.
“(We) just girl talk and hang out like any other time you’d hook up
with a girlfriend and have sushi and catch up,” she said, admitting that
even she’s envious of how cool her pals are.
“Let’s just say a lot of them are super models. Even I wish sometimes I
was like 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10, like them!” she confessed.
