“The idea of the game is my mom traveling through the gates of heaven.”
That’s how Kanye West described the video game he helped create that centers on the death of his mother, Donda West.
A trailer for the game — called Only One — was played at West’s
listening party/fashion show/self-congratulation session at Madison
Square Garden on Thursday night.
Details of the game are unclear, but the action appears to involve
helping Donda get into heaven. She is seen flying towards a large
opening in the sky, dressed in heavenly attire and alternatively riding a
winged horse or donning angelic flight gear herself.
Donda West died in 2007 after complications from cosmetic surgery. The
58-year-old West had undergone a breast reduction and tummy tuck, but
likely suffered uncontrolled bleeding after going home to recover from
the radical operation.
One of Kanye West’s many creative companies is named for her. And at an after-party Thursday night, West wore a T-shirt featuring his mother's image on the front, and his late stepfather-in-law Robert Kardashian on the back.
