Keeping in-touch: Fitness Model, Mr. Nigeria International 2013, Adebiyi Adetola,

Speaking with Model, award-winning Adebiyi Adetola, Mr. Nigeria International 2013, formarly known as (Nigeria Brain Supermodel), BSc Computer Engineering from OAU, Ife. Associate of Project Management, Fitness trainer/model.

Three years after winning the title as Mr. Nigeria International 2013, Adebiyi Adetola  is still being acclaimed as the “Mr. Nigeria International”.

I realized that models in their career pursuit have focus and are passion-driven. As he actually broke it down in words and few pictures to express his life as a fitness model.

Let's face it, Adebiyi Adetola, Mr. Nigeria International 2013, is of the opinion that we are all vain creatures.

We see something nice on a magazine cover and instantly want to transform; chiseled abs, trim waistline, buff upper bodies. It sticks on our minds so much it becomes an obsession. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself what these people are doing to achieve that look?  Clearly there's a difference between the Maxim cover model and the model bodybuilder with a neck that would make Ray Lewis jealous – but what is it?  As with most things, the devil is in the details.

But back to the reason you're here – how to look like Mr. Adebiyi. It is important to realize that different body forms are part of the attributes that make us individuals. The workout plan that works for him may or may not work for you. It is advisable to have a goal, a picture in mind, “how can I achieve this form with the way I've been created?”.

Then one proceeds to research on workout programs or perhaps subscribe to a well-equipped gym with a very experienced instructor.  On top of that, fitness models take their diet VERY seriously.  I mean, how else are you going to achieve washboard abs if you aren't on top of each and every thing you toss down your gullet?

This is the point I'd like to throw out a disclaimer – I'm not insinuating that THIS is the best way to workout.  I'm also not suggesting this is the most practical way to work out for the vast majority of you.  The motivation for today's talk came in the form of numerous questions over the years from curious fans and friends wondering how in the world they could get themselves looking like that fitness model.

Adebiyi Adetola, Mr Nigeria International 2013,

Won the Outstanding Male Pageant, at Lagos Fashion Awards 2014,

 Also, he delved into some modeling endeavors;

Endorsed Little BigShot Energy Drink.

•Africa Magic Viewer's Choice Awards 2015,

•Headies 2014,

•Exquisite Face of the Universe 2014,

•Nigeria Leadership Summit 2013, etc.

Here is what he has to say on the subject of fitness:

“FITNESS, THE MODEL'S BEST FRIEND.

Physical fitness is the general state of mental, social and emotional health, and physical well-being.

It is a measure of the body's ability to function efficiently and effectively in the individual's disposition, leisure activities and also being suitable to perform specific tasks.

Studies and extensive research have agreed that a dedicated regimen of physical fitness, coupled with recommended and optimum nutrition can cure many chronic health conditions caused by unhealthy habits and ailments that come with age. It has also alleviated the conditions of Individuals with sleeping disorders and mood swings. And ultimately, weight loss and toned-body goals are fulfilled.

Statistics show that individuals that engage in fitness programs or any sporting and gaming (swimming, tennis, running, hiking, yoga, weights training, hunting, etc) endeavors tend to live longer and have fulfilled lives and careers (social and emotional health). These individuals exude confidence, esteem and mental balance (mental health).

Yes, Nigeria, Lagos hustle is real. But so also is your health. Most African adults hold down sedentary jobs for a living. And pay little or no attention to the state of their minds and bodies. I enjoin my dear readers to embrace fitness as a lifestyle to improve our life expectancy (52.11 years as of 2012. USA and Kenya have 78.74 and 61.08 years respectively).  Make a plan to start!
