Lady Gaga is getting the chance to sing some of her hero’s hits.
The pop star will pay tribute to the late David Bowie at the 58th Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced.
Gaga’s take on Bowie’s music will be “a multi-sensory testament to the
superstar’s incredible artistry and a reflection of his limitless
creativity, " according to The Wrap.
The performance will be
directed by Nile Rogers. The three-time Grammy Award winner become
close friends with Bowie after producing the singer’s best-selling album
“Let’s Dance” in 1983.
Gaga was already scheduled to perform at the show, but after Bowie’s death she was tapped to honor him.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gaga expressed her affection for Bowie and the impact he had on her career.
“When I fell in love with David Bowie,
when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamor
was something he was using to express a message to people that was very
healing for their souls,” she said. “He is a true, true artist and I
don't know if I ever went, 'Oh, I'm going to be that way like this,' or
if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that's what
drew me to him.”
Other artists set to perform at the Grammys include Adele, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood, The Weeknd and others.The show will air on CBS
The award show will be live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
