Ibadan—AS activities marking the
burial ceremony of late Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1 begin this Friday, a
burial committee set up by Governor Abiola Ajimobi has said the
interment of the monarch will be not be done in secrecy unlike other
monarchs in the South West.

Aremo where the monarch attended till his death would be done in public

Oba Odulana joined his ancestors on January 19, 2016 after a ripe age of 101.
While speaking with newsmen on the 9-day burial programme at the
ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Alhaji Alli who told all the gathering that
the committee had the backing and sponsorship of Governor Ajimobi said
the programme will hold between February 5 and 14.
However, the committee led by the Secretary to the State Government,
Alhaji Olalekan Alli was evasive on the presence of wives and children
of the late monarch during the interment process.
The committee which comprises the head of service, special advisers,
permanent secretaries, representatives of the Central Council of Ibadan
Indigenes, representatives of the Olubadan-in-Council and members of
the royal family and other government officials from the eleven local
government areas in the state.
The committee also preferred to keep mum on the litigation over the
installation of a new monarch praying proverbially that there would not
be crisis in the city over the choice of a new king.
He added that God would not allow anyone who may want to foment any trouble in the peaceful city.
As for security arrangements, the committee said all necessary things
had been done to ensure peaceful participation of all residents of the
city.
