These pants look like a pain in the butt.
Levi’s new Wedgie Fit Jeans - yes, that is their actual name - pinch
your posterior to lift and separate your cheeks in a move mastered by
bullies for ages.
The brand dubs the spring 2016 line of derriere-squeezing denim “the cheekiest jeans in your closet.”
Kylie Jenner gave shoppers a sneak preview of the booty-boosting
bottoms on Instagram two weeks ago by posting a couple of belfies of
herself rocking the glorified mom jeans.
Levi’s latest look hugs the waist and hips, “showcasing your best
assets,” according to the company’s website. There are three washes to
pick from: a white “vintage chalk,” a darker “coyote desert” blue, and a
faded “foothills” rinse, and run from $88 to $158 online.
The design team decided to put their own spin on the Wedgie after
noticing how girls were buying their jeans small and pulling them up to
get the same effect.
“The Wedgie is inspired by girls that were downsizing a vintage 505
[Levi’s cut] and wearing it very close and almost vacuum-packed to the
rear ends - hence the affectionate and cheeky name,” Jonathan Cheung
from Levi’s Global Design tells the Daily News.
“And what’s great about the vintage 505 is this flatness at the front,
that holds your tummy in, and they are a little bit tight around the
back,” he adds. “It’s this gorgeousness that we’ve distilled into the
Wedgie.”
Real wedgies are widely considered uncomfortable, but Levi’s tells Mashable that these jeans are tailored to hug curves snugly — and the cotton fabric has added stretch so the pants won’t ride up.
This is just the latest pair of pants in the controversial jean splicing wars.
Guess revealed a line of nutrient-rich JeanCare jeggings earlier this week that are woven with ginkgo extract, sea kelp and vitamin E to soothe and hydrate skin.
And American Eagle
created a denim line last fall brewed with coffee fiber that reportedly
keeps the duds cleaner longer thanks to java’s antibacterial qualities.
Hilary Duff and Vanessa Hudgens are among the celebs buzzing about the
caffeinated clothes.
