There’s a lot more to “like” about posting on Facebook.
The social network rolled out its new “Reactions” buttons on Wednesday
so that users can express how they really feel about what’s in their
newsfeed.
Previously, the world’s 1.6 billion Facebook users could only tap the thumbs up emoticon to show they “liked” a post.
But now, users can choose from a menu of “Reactions” emojis that
include a heart, a laughing face, a surprised face, a teary-eyed face
and an angry red face with furrowed brows.
“Reactions gives you new ways to express love, awe, humor and sadness,”
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post when testing the
“Reactions” began on Oct. 8 in Ireland, Spain, Chile, the Philippines,
Portugal, Colombia and Japan.
The “Today” show reports that the heart was the most common reaction used in the test markets.
And Spanish users embraced the emojis with gusto, more than doubling
the amount of “Reactions” being used since they debuted in the fall.
There is still no “dislike” button, as many users have clamored for, so the “Sad” and “Angry” buttons will have to do for now.
