Get ready for a new round of celebrity mansions ... on a smaller screen.
MTV announced Thursday they would revive its popular series “Cribs” but the program will come back shorter and on Snapchat.
Also different will be the filming of show, which will cut out a film
crew. Instead stars will turn the camera on themselves as they show off
their ritzy digs, according to Variety magazine.
The reboot is expected to launch in June, with rapper Mac Miller and
singers Austin Mahone and Travis Mills slated for the first few snaps.
The MTV show launched in 2000, giving viewers a glimpse of celebrity pads.
It ended its run over a decade later in 2011, delivering hit episodes
like the one featuring Mariah Carey’s infamous penthouse which matched
her diva attitude.
Here are some of the best moments from “Cribs” to remember before tuning in to the revival:
Beyonce and Kelly Rowland
Pre Beyonce’s solo superstardom, she lived with Destiny’s Child member
Kelly Rowland. In true early 2000’s fashion, Rowland has a box from the
Candies where she hid mementos from past boyfriends.
As for young Bey, her room was a royal theme disaster the “Flawless” singer wouldn’t come near today.
Redman
The rapper life doesn’t always mean the high life.
Redman’s Staten Island crib, dubbed De La Casa by the Newark rapper, was not the lavish homes typical to the show.
Memorable moments burned into pop culture include his shoe box full of
money and the dirty clothes covering just about everything.
Richard Branson
On one end of the “Cribs” spectrum there’s Redman—on the other, Richard Branson.
The Virgin Group stands out for his luxurious Necker Island, which boasts a 10-bedroom villa for all his celebrity friends—even Mariah Carey was lounging around during the episode.
Aaron Carter
A then-famous Aaron Carter invited cameras in his 13-bedroom Florida mansion with what seemed to feature a Florida theme.
The Justin-Bieber lookalike showed a vintage TV on which he watched cartoons on his TV and later disclosed his “love shack.”
“You’ve gotta have a love shack," he declared.
Mariah Carey
In a 2002 episode, Mariah Carey proved she lives true to her larger than life style.
The pop star refused to show off her bedroom or the alleged Marilyn
Monroe piano she owns. She did, however, allow cameras into her
butterfly themed room, which housed her fan mail.
She also revealed she likes to forget about the world while wearing a towel in her hot tub.
