Paris Jackson's boyfriend Michael Snoddy has a Confederate flag tattoo

Paris Jackson's new boyfriend is causing a stir over a tattoo on his wrist that features the Confederate flag.

Michael Snoddy, 26, a musician with the drum and percussion ensemble Street Drum Corps, began recently dating Michael Jackson's daughter and the pair have been seen in Instagram photos together.
Snoddy got a tattoo featuring the Confederate flag and the letters CFH — representing the popular Pantera album "Cowboys From Hell" — in late 2014.

The tattoo angers Jackson's relatives since the King of Pop was black, TMZ reports.
While many believe the flag is racially divisive, Snoddy stated that southern Pride influenced his design — and he wrote on social media that he has been "wanting this tattoo since middle school."

He also got the tattoo before discourse over the Confederate flag reached a boiling point.

Pantera regularly used the Confederate flag in merchandise and stage shows, something former singer Phil Anselmo attributed to the band's love of acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd in a 2015 interview.

Anselmo says his perspectives evolved over the years.

"The way I feel and the group of people I've had to work with my whole life, you see a Confederate flag out there that says 'Heritage, not hate.' I'm not so sure I'm buying into that," he told the site Hard Rock Haven.

Paris Jackson, meanwhile, also got a tattoo — the words “Queen of My Heart” in her father’s handwriting — to honor the late King of Pop for her 18th birthday on April 3.
