With the knowledge that SMEs and growing businesses are the engine room of any economy, Etisalat Nigeria partnered with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan Atlantic University in organizing the “Market Access Forum” which was held in Abuja recently.

The event which was graced by the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar had in attendance hundreds of start-ups who were seeking opportunities that will enable their businesses increase in capacity.
Etisalat has supported Market Access
Forum for four years, as it believes such initiatives are important in
the improvement and growth of small and growing businesses, the same way
Etisalat attained its record growth.
The Minister applauded Etisalat for
being at the forefront of promoting initiatives that support growing
businesses as one of the key drivers of the prosperity of the Nigerian
economy and said it is a good omen for small and growing businesses
which constitute over 95% of the Nigerian economy.

Speaking on the initiative, Head, Enterprise Marketing, Etisalat Nigeria; Bidemi Ladipo
said that one of the key insights drawn from the partnership with the
Enterprise Development Centre is the knowledge that lack of capacity is
one of the key challenges SMEs face in Nigeria apart from funding. “Many
entrepreneurs in Nigeria do not understand how to run a business
properly,” he said.
Etisalat has been involved in different initiatives; such as the EasyBusiness Millionaires’ Hunt, which gave SMEs, who subscribe to Etisalat’s EasyBusiness
package the opportunity to apply for a business grant. Through this
initiative Etisalat has trained over 100 entrepreneurs and given
businesses over N40 million in grants.
The Market Access train will be visiting Port Harcourt next on July 6th and 7th, followed by Lagos on October 12th and 13th.
