Melania Trump is sticking to a classic adage when hitting back at Chris Matthews for his public catcall.
“I would just say, men will be men,” the 46-year-old told DuJour magazine.
In a wide-ranging sit-down with the magazine, the fashion designer and
usually soft-spoken wife to Donald Trump called Matthews’ comments
“unbelievable.”
“That’s what I’m saying! I’m not only a beauty, I’m smart. I have brains. I’m intelligent,” she continued.
The Slovenian beauty had previously stayed quiet on Matthews shocking remarks made on air two weeks ago during MSNBC’s coverage of the Indiana primary
"Did you see her walk? Runway walk. My God, is that good," Matthews
said as video showed GOP front-runner Trump and his wife taking the
stage.”
“I could watch that runway show," the veteran journalist continued, seemingly not realizing his comments were being broadcast.
Despite being shocked by the remark, the former model said such comments come with being married to a presidential hopeful.
“When you walk in a room, everybody knows the person,” she explained.
“Sometimes people see you with that man, and maybe they know more about
the man, and they judge you or see you differently. You need to know
(who) you are and you need to be very secure. You need to stand up for
yourself. You need to have your own yes and no,” she continued.
Other tidbits the mom-of-one discussed included not getting a wedding
present from the Clintons and a memorable encounter with Michael
Jackson, which almost ended with a kiss.
“Just after dinner, we were chatting on the sofa and my husband went
into another room to see some art somebody wanted to show him,” she
recalled.
“And Michael said to me, `Hey, when Trump comes back, let’s start kissing so he will be jealous,” she added.
The smooch never came to fruition but Melania fondly remembered “laughing so hard.”
