BET Awards and Grammy Museum Launch the “Sounds of Africa” Exhibition to Showcase Works of Angelique Kidjo, Sir Victor Uwaifo, 2Baba, Laolu Senbanjo & More

The BET Awards and the Grammy Musuem have selected some African artists’ works to be showcased at the “Sounds of Africa”

Exhibition which seeks to celebrate the unique diversity of African music, and spotlight African winners and nominees of both the Grammy Awards and the BET Awards.

The works of Grammy-award winner Angélique Kidjo, Legendary Singer/songwriter Sir Victor Uwaifo, Singer/songwriter Salif Keita, Singer/songwriter and producer 2Baba, Rumba singer/songwriter and bandleader Tabu Ley Rochereau, Hip-hop artist and actor Ice Prince, Visual artist Laolu Senbanjo, South African duo Mafikizolo, among others will temporarily be on display from Friday, June 24th 2016 until later on the year.

Items to be displayed feature handwritten lyrics, costumes and rare instruments. Monde Twala, VP BET Youth & Music, VIMN Africa said, “It’s fantastic to see the influence of African artists and music amplified in this unique exhibition in this iconic setting. We are excited about working with the Grammy Museum to create this fascinating tribute to legendary, traditional and contemporary African musicians.”
