Recovering substance abuser Lamar Odom was reportedly removed from his
flight out of Los Angeles on Monday after he got so drunk in the
airport, he threw up on the plane.
The former NBA star was seen knocking back beers and whiskey drinks at a
Delta lounge bar before he boarded a late night flight to Manhattan, TMZ reports.
But before the plane took off, the ex-Los Angeles Laker darted from his
first-class seat and vomited in the kitchen area of the aircraft. He
then reportedly went into the bathroom and continued throwing up with
the door open.
Odom, who was reportedly "totally wasted," was then escorted off the
plane by flight attendants, only to reappear ten minutes later. But
after a few minutes, he returned to the bathroom, placing his hands on
other passenger's heads to balance himself.
A passenger eventually complained, urging a flight attendant to take further action, according to the celebrity gossip website.
"Don't you know his history?" the passenger allegedly asked. "I don't want a dead body at 30,000 feet."
Odom was then taken off the plane for good, and the flight arrived in New York approximately 40 minutes behind schedule.
The 36-year-old "Keeping Up with The Kardashians" star has a history of
substance issues, and last October he was rushed to a Nevada hospital
after being discovered unresponsive after a drug binge at a Nevada
brothel.
He emerged from a coma four days later but remained in the hospital for three months before being released in January.
Odom showed encouraging signs of recovery in the weeks after his
release and moved into a lavish, $25,000-per-month rental home in
Calabasas, Calif. paid for by his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian.
But the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year was spotted ordering a cognac and three mixed drinks at an Irish pub in late March, reportedly worrying those close to him.
Then on Monday, TMZ
reported that Kardashian, who had wanted Odom to live close in case he
needed her, kicked her longtime spouse out of the rental home after
discovering a crack pipe.
A source told People magazine, however, that it was Odom’s decision to not renew the lease because he was “ready to move on.”
