Watch out “Ghostbusters” because “The Expendabelles” are assembling a
formidable team of tough girls who may also be hitting theaters soon.

Retired mixed martial artist Randy Couture, a Sylvester Stallone
confidante who starred alongside Sly in three “Expendables” films, tells
us that a female version of the super soldier franchise is in the
works.
“I am hearing ‘Expendabelles’ talks have been going on for the past two
years,” Couture told us at a party at the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas.
Surely Sly, who turned 70 years old, will be watching anxiously to see how the all-female reboot of “Ghostbusters” does when it hits theaters on July 15. In 2014, Stallone expressed interest in casting Sigourney Weaver — who makes a cameo in the new “Ghostbusters” — in a new chapter of his “Expendables” saga. Weaver later confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that there were discussions, but a deal never happened.
Couture also tells us that an “Expendables” sequel featuring the usual suspects of tough guys is in the works too, but Stallone is putting ladies first.
“I heard they had a script they were adapting for '(The Expendables) 4'
and that we were going to start shooting for '4' in the fall,” Couture
said. “Now I'm hearing it might be pushed back and 'The Expendabelles'
might be back on the docket.”
Being a septuagenarian has only fueled Stallone's fire. A second movie
insider tells us that Sly plans to add to his “Rocky” legacy with
another chapter that follows the storyline of the son of the Apollo
Creed character, who was introduced to audiences in the 2015 film
“Creed.”
“The script is almost ready and now they are tying down dates for Sly
and Michael B. Jordan,” we're told. “The studio and all concerned felt
that the chemistry between the team was so strong that a sequel was
needed — not for money reasons, but to continue a gripping story.”
