Easy, breezy, beautiful ... CoverBoy!
Covergirl has a fresh new face representing the brand — and for the first time ever it belongs to a guy.
Pop star Katy Perry — who's also one of the faces of CoverGirl — took
to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that 17-year-old James Charles would
be representing the brand.
“Just wrapped another great @COVERGIRL shoot. Honored to have the
pleasure to announce the very first COVERBOY, James Charles!,” she
wrote, along with a photo of the two of them together.
Charles is an aspiring makeup artist from New York, who has amassed
more than 430,000 followers in just one year for his makeup tutorials on
his Instagram and YouTube accounts.
Charles took to his account to share with his excitement with his many followers.
“THE SECRETS OUT.. so beyond excited to finally announce that I am the
new face of #COVERGIRL and the first ever coverBOY,” Charles wrote on
Instagram. “I am so thankful and excited and cannot wait to show you all
what we have in store.”
The teen grabbed the attention of the makeup brand due to his popular
tutorial videos, which often garner between 30,000 and 70,000 views.
The company noted that his dynamic makeup videos served as an
inspiration to those who may have been afraid to showcase the various
facets of their personalities.
“All of our COVERGIRLs are role models and boundary-breakers,
fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe, and
redefining what it means to be beautiful,” the company said in a
statement. “James Charles is no exception.”
