Leading noodles brand, Indomie Noodles, once again honoured children who exhibited bravery and heroism through its annual Independence Day Awards (IIDA).
As actors receive Oscars and other awards for acting in movies, these
children are being celebrated by Indomie Noodles for their role in the
biggest stage in the world. Life.
One of the winners this year, 15 year old Babatimileyin Daomi,
received the ‘Intellectual Bravery Award’ for multiple inventions such
as a vacuum cleaning machine, a radio set and many other high tech
gadgets.
The ‘Physical Bravery Award’ was joyfully received by 11 year old Favour Uwene
from Akwa Ibom State. He carted the coveted award for his alertness and
gallantry, as he helped apprehend a murderer, who having killed two
sisters, was on the verge of slaying the third.
Social Bravery Award was claimed by 12 year old visually impaired Ibrahim Salisu
who hails from Bauchi state. Salisu clinched One Million Naira prize
money alongside other donations worth several millions from kind-hearted
individuals and corporate organisations present. This money will help
will assist Ibrahim Salisu’s family to cater for him, ensure he attends
school and provide him with other things as they deem necessary.
Salisu, despite being visually impaired
from birth, defied all odds, overcame his challenge as learnt the
tedious art of shoe-making. Salisu is today a dignified cobbler who
puts smiles on the faces of his teeming customers.
Speaking at the event, Group Managing Director, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Deepak Singhal
said: “the aim of the IIDA is to identify, recognise and celebrate
Nigerian children who have displayed acts of heroism and bravery,
defying every logic and limitations with their actions went ahead become
role models to other children and indeed to so many adults. We seek to
encourage and promote this spirit which is vital to nation building.”
The event which took place at Federal
Palace Hotel, Lagos had captain of industry, celebrities, government
agencies representatives, students from different schools and media men
in attendance.
Indomie Independence Day Award for
Heroes of Nigeria has so far recorded a huge success in the last nine
editions. The award has rewarded a total of 27 winners who have also
received rewards in the form of scholarship prizes worth several
millions of Naira and impacting in the lives of the awardees and their
families positively.
The ninth Indomie Independence Day Award
(IIDA) was sponsored by Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of delicious
Indomie Instant Noodles and supported by ,Stanbic IBTC Bank and DAAR
Communications Plc.
