If a $69 flight from New York to Europe sounds appealing, go north — and Norse.
Budget carrier Norwegian Air (norwegian.com/us) has announced that it
is launching non-stop, low-cost flights between Stewart International
Airport, 70 miles north of Manhattan, and various destinations in
Europe.
The budget carrier expects to offer 21 flights a week from the Orange
County, New York airport, to England, Scotland, Ireland and Norway.
Trips will be aboard Boeing’s 737 Max, which has a single aisle and
carries 189 passengers. Compared to bigger jets, the smaller,
narrow-body plane costs less to operate.
Stewart passengers reap the reward. One-way fares reportedly could run as low as $69.
The airline is scheduled to add the planes to its increasing fleet in mid-2017.
Norwegian Air Shuttle, founded in 1993, describes itself as the
sixth-largest low-cost airline, as well as one of the fastest-growing
airlines in the world.
