A Massachusetts man who pretended to be Justin Bieber online to solicit nude photos has been arrested.
Bryan Asrary, 24, confessed to extorting a 9-year-old girl in 2014 by
pretending to be the pop singer and threatening her if she didn’t comply
with his demand, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's
Department.
Asrary messaged the young girl after he saw her commenting on Bieber’s
Instagram page and told her that he could set up a text conversation
between the two.
He then allegedly impersonated the “Sorry” singer and asked for nude photos, saying he’d hurt her if she didn’t.
Asrary followed up again in 2016 and threatened to publish the photos
if the girl didn’t send him more, at which point her mother called the
police.
In his confession, Asrary told cops that he had also tricked other girls into sending him photos.
He faces charges of extortion, manufacturing child pornography, and
communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sex act in
California.
Massachusetts State Police also charged him with the possession of
child pornography, which was found when police searched his cell phone
and computer.
