Another actress got political on the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.
Lola Kirke, 26, strutted the red carpet in a gorgeous Andrew Gn gown accessorized with a button that said "F..k Paul Ryan."
The "Mozart in the Jungle" star told Elle that she wore the badge to
protest the planned defunding of Planned Parenthood by the Republican
party which was announced by the House speaker last week.
"Paul Ryan is talking about defunding Planned Parenthood," she told Elle.
"I think that, along with a number of other decisions that are being
talked about being made by the new administration, is atrocious. As a
person with a platform, no matter what size it is, I think it's
important to share your views and maybe elevate people that might agree
with you, that maybe won't feel like they can have the same voice. My
body my choice, your body your choice."
Earlier in the week the 26-year-old performer posted a note on
Instagram that read in part: "Tell Speaker Ryan that you're a part of
the overwhelming majority that opposes defunding care at Planned
Parenthood health centers."
And that's not the only statement the English-American actress chose to
make. She also shunned conventional beauty standards by having armpit
hair, something her older sister "Girls" star Jemima Kirke has also done
on the red carpet.
She later referred to her grooming choice in an Instagram post
facetiously thanking "all the beautiful people who didn't send me death
threats on account of my #awesome #hairyarmpits".
