After much back and forth, NBC has finally confirmed that the beloved
sitcom "Will & Grace" would be returning to TV nearly 10 years after
it went off the air.
The 10-episode limited run will air on NBC during the 2017-18 season,
featuring the original stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes
and Megan Mullally.
A few weeks ago, show star Leslie Jordan revealed it would "definitely" return, but days later leading lady Debra Messing denied his declaration.
"Sadly Leslie was wrong. Nothing beyond talks," she tweeted in response to a fan.
The talks seemed to be successful as a little more than a week passed
before NBC made its own announcement about the show's much-anticipated
return.
Messing even took to Twitter to write that she was happy to announce the return.
"We're thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining
comedies in NBC history is coming back," NBC Entertainment Chairman
Robert Greenblatt said in a statement.
"This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social
and political commentary - all disguised as a high-speed train of witty
pop culture - is coming back where it belongs," he continued.
"Will & Grace" aired from 2001 to 2005 and was nominated for 83
Emmys. It took home 16 of the awards, including "Outstanding Comedy
Series."
