Jennifer Lopez gets real about motherhood: 'I almost thought it wasn't going to happen'

As celebrities like Beyoncé and Amal Clooney are getting ready to welcome twins, Jennifer Lopez is thankful for her own.
The 47-year-old proud mom of twins Emme and Maximilian went on "Today" Thursday to discuss her busy life and how lucky she was to become a mother to twins over the age of 30.
"They just made my life so much better... I'm forever grateful," she told Guthrie following their ninth birthdays.

"I didn't have kids until later, so I almost thought it wasn't going to happen for me. I'm very aware that I was blessed with that and that it could have been something different so I don't take it for granted one day."

Lopez had the pair when she was 38 in 2008 with then-husband Marc Anthony.
Beyoncé, 35, and Amal Clooney, 39, both announced recently that they were expecting twins in the coming months.

Women over 30 have a higher chance of having twins, especially if a fertility treatment is being used. Those in their 30s had a 5% chance of multiples, while women in their teens or 20s were between 2 and 3%, according to Pew Research Center.
Last week, JLo took to Instagram to share several snaps of her kids in honor of their birthdays.

"I can't believe its 9 years ago today that God entrusted me with the biggest blessings of my life..." she wrote.
"He finally sent me my beautiful twins, my babies, my love and life in two lil human beings," she continued in the loving message.
