Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain dedicated his 1983 mega-hit
“Faithfully” to his wife, Donald Trump “spiritual adviser” and pastor
Paula White-Cain, during an intimate show to celebrate the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame over the weekend.
As it happens, Cain wrote “Faithfully” in 1983
when he was in the first
of his three marriages. White-Cain, whom he wed in 2015, is also on
marriage No. 3.
The show took place in front of roughly 100 VIPs at Gramercy Park
Hotel’s Rose Bar Saturday night, just a day after 18,000 music fans
turned up at Barclays Center in Brooklyn to see Journey reunited with
their former singer, Steve Perry, to accept the honor.
Also in attendance on Saturday were Cain’s three kids from a previous
marriage, including his twins Weston and Liza, who were celebrating
their 21st birthday. Their 23-year-old sister Madison joined dad on
stage to belt out the Journey classic “Don’t Stop Believin’,” according
to Daily News reporter Jeanette Settembre.
White-Cain is said to be largely responsible for keeping the President
believin’ after he saw her preaching on television more than a decade
ago and reached out to say hello.
The high-rolling televangelist has been The Donald’s unofficial adviser
ever since, even joining him onstage in Washington at his Jan. 20
inauguration. She is also slated to chair his administration’s
“Evangelical Advisory Board.”
Spirituality and a pair of failed marriages aren’t the only things
White-Cain and The Donald have in common. Her moneymaking ministry was
investigated by Congress in 2007, but no charges came from the inquiry.
The Daily Beast compared White-Cain’s ministry to “the church version of
Trump University” in a 2016 article that points out that her website,
which remains operational, posts sermons including one called “Why God
Wants You Wealthy.” In 2006, Trump co-authored a book called “Why We
Want You to be Rich.”
The wheel in the sky keeps on turning.
