Mariah Carey’s life reportedly in the works at Starz in Drama series of her "Rise to Fame

Mariah Carey is developing a scripted drama about her rise to fame, Deadline reported Monday.

The fictionalized show will follow a bi-racial 16-year-old girl who aims to be the best-selling female musician in history.
Carey will serve as an executive producer for the Starz show along with friend Brett Ratner. Nina Coleman, who wrote “Dr. Dolittle 3,” will write the show and serve as showrunner.

The Long Island-native broke into the music industry in 1990 with “Vision of Love” from her debut album and has continued a steady run as one of the most successful performers.

Her single “One Sweet Day” with Boyz II Men spent 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list from 1995 to 1996.
Thanks to albums including “Butterfly,” “The Emancipation of Mimi” and “Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse,” Carey has sold the third most records for a female performer in history, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Over her career, she’s won five Grammy Awards and was named the World Music Awards' Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium. She’s also had 18 singles hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, second only to The Beatles.

Carey recently starred in the E! docuseries “Mariah’s World.”
