South Africa’s Nomsa Madida has built a name for herself as one of
the best makeup artists in the country. Her career started off in 2006
and she has worked on celebrities such as Rebecca Malope, Lerato
Kganyago, Masechaba Ndlovu and Ayanda Thabethe just to name a few and
has been chosen by international cosmetics brand NYX to represent South
Africa in Los Angeles. California.
2. MUTHONI NJOBA
As one of the most successful makeup artists, Kenyan born Muthoni
Njoba’s talent in makeup was noticed and led to her being the lead brand
ambassador for L’oreal and official makeup artist for Maybelline New
York.
3. PRINCESS AMAYO
Princess Amayo is most definitely a favourite of many. This Nigerian
born UK based makeup artist is a self-taught makeup artist who has over
14 years’ experience been in the industry and is a multi-award winner in
the fashion industry. To top it off she is the talent behind the
gorgeous cover models here at Zen Magazine including our current cover
with model Ayoola Bakare.
4. MARZEL MAKEUP STUDIOS
Founder of Marzel Makeup Studios, Ethiopian Yemariamwork, is truly
talented. Having been in the business for almost a decade, she is a huge

Ugandan Monalisa Umutoni founded MonaFaces for her love of makeup in
2014 and since then has become a household name. She has worked with
celebrated Ugandan women such as The Queen of Buganda Nnaabagereka –
Sylvia Nagginda, Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, multi-award winning comedian –
Anne Kansiime, celebrity designer – Sylvia Owori and popular musicians
such as Lilian Mbabazi and Sheebah Karungi.

Nigerian Banke Meshida Lewal is the CEO of leading cosmetics group
BMPRO.Her love for beauty led to her create a business with a cosmetic
line, training school, beauty advisory and an online magazine. She has
also won a plethora of awards and has recently been appointed as the
governor of the Make-up Artists Guild of Nigeria. (MAGN).
7. KEMI KINGS
UK based Kemi Imevbore-Uwaga is one of the biggest names in the
beauty industry as an award – winning global makeup artist. Her
expertise has been seen in magazines, runways, weddings and red carpet
events.
8. JOY BALOGUN
Nigerian born Agbonmeire Joy Balogun had always been in love with
makeup and when she moved to Kenya she decided to start her own business
as a makeup artist. She has worked on many celebrities and public
figures over the years and we can see why.
