Health Care: AK NMA Commissions Clinic

In a bid to enhance health care delivery in Akwa Ibom State, the state branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) August 1, 2017 commissioned the NMA Clinic.  

While cutting the tapes, Dr Etiobong Etukumana , A past chairman of the association described the occasion as historic while urging members of the public to take advantage of the clinic as the journey to proper health care begins with proper diagnosis. 

In his speech, The Chairman of NMA AKS & the South South Zone Dr Aniekeme Uwah
stated that the clinic which is the first in the country by any branch of NMA was set up to the glory of God and for the benefit of mankind. 

He expressed hope, that the clinic will help complement the efforts of government in providing health care to the masses by offering free consultations and highly subsidized qualitative health care services... 
 
Dr Uwah further stressed that the facility which would grow to become a full fledge hospital in the long term, will also assist doctors in providing their health care needs and check ups. 
Notable equipments in the multi million naira facility include:
An ultrasound scan machine,
A glucometer,
An infrared thermometer,
An adult scale with height measure,
Littmann stethoscope,
Accuson sphygmomanometer,
Examination couch,
Drip stand,
Resuscitation mask,
Medical metal cupboard , Just to mention a few.
 
To kickoff, the NMA clinic will be open to members of the public for free consultancy services on Wednesdays from 9am-3pm.
