President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump depart the White to visit Texas to survey the storm-ravaged Gulf and meet with relief providers Tuesday.
Outside of the fire station, Trump collected a microphone and address the hundreds of crowd and supporters that he was going to be there to take
care of them.
Quote “We love you, you are special, we’re here to take care of you,” Trump
said. “It’s going well. I will tell you, this is historic, it’s epic
what happened. But you know what, it happened in Texas and Texas can
handle anything.”
The president and first lady then flew to Austin and toured the Texas
Department of Public Safety Emergency Operations Center in the city.
“I will tell you, the whole county, the whole world is really seeing
and gaining such respect for everybody,” the president said. “And the
job you have done is incredible. What you’ve done is under
circumstances–I said before, the word ‘epic’ and ‘historic.’ These are
words used to describe this monster known as Harvey, but the job you
have done is really special. So, I just want to thank you on behalf of
myself, the first lady, the governor.”
However, the first lady changed into more comfortable shoes once the Air Force One landed in Corpus Christi, pulled her hair back and rolled up the sleeves of her shirt, ready to help. |
Later, the first lady issued a statement after the visit, offering to help as much as possible.
Quote “I want to be able to offer my help and support in the most
productive way possible, not through just words, but also action,”
Trump’s statement read. “What I found to be the most profound during the
visit was not only the strength and resilience of the people of Texas,
but the compassion and sense of community that has taken over the
State. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the people of Texas
and Louisiana.”
