THE Oscars equivalent of the television world, the Emmy Awards celebrates the industry’s most exciting talent. 

 

This year’s star-studded event saw streaming video solidify its place as the vanguard for TV creativity as Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale was awarded five accolades, including Outstanding Drama Series. In a night of political attacks aimed at US President Donald Trump, Saturday Night Live won the most statuettes, including Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon’s impersonations of Trump and Hillary Clinton, while Black Mirror’s Charlie Brooker was Britain’s highest achiever. 

Veep and Big Little Lies were also recognised at the 69th annual ceremony. On the red carpet, Zoë Kravitz turned heads in Dior Couture, Claire Foy bucked the dress trend in an Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit, and Nicole Kidman joined Millie Bobby Brown in Calvin Klein.
