"I found out my wife was pregnant with our first child a few hours before I got the call with news of an offer from Facebook to join the team as a Data Engineer, my literal dream job! We relocated from Florida to the Bay area and I thought of Facebook as one of those fictitious jobs that I never expected to be able to land and now that I'm here, I try hard not to take anything for granted.
A few things I appreciate about our Data Engineering team at Facebook, (or DE team as we like to call it), include the high value we place on data accuracy, data recency, and the privacy of our users.
The value of pipeline optimization to get data delivered as soon as possible is also really important to making data decisions that can help build the best possible products for the 2B+ people on our platform.
