THE ELOY AWARDS 2017 INFLUENCERS

The Exquisite Ladies of the Year (ELOY) Awards is here again and it is all about celebrating successful women who have done well in their endeavours.

 

 

This year being the 9^th is themed; “The Year of Inspiration”, and is targeted at highlighting women who inspire, motive and encourage other women to be better.

The ELOY team has unveiled this year’s influencers and they are great women who serve as role models to young ladies have been always inspired and encouraged others in many ways.

JOKE SILVA

 

Joke Silva (born 29 September 1961) is a Nigerian actress, director, and businesswoman.

A graduate of the University of Lagos and Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, she began her career in film in the early 1990s. In 1998 she had a major role starred opposite Colin Firth and Nia Long in the British-Canadian film The secret Laughter of Women. In 2006 she won “Best Actress in a Leading Role” at the 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards for her performance in Women’s Cot, and “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008 for her performance as a grandmother in White Waters.

Mummy J as she is fondly called is happily married to actor Olu Jacobs. The couple founded and operate the Lufodo Group covering film production and distribution assets and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts, where she is Director of Studies. She is also the pioneering managing director of Malete Film Village, in association with Kwara State University. On 29 September 2014, Silva received recognition as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, one of Nigeria’s National Honors Awards, at the International Conference Centre, ABUJA.

Over the years Mummy J has won awards all over the world has gotten a lot of recognition for her endeavors in her field and she is known for inspiring and empowering women.

LANRE DA SILVA AJAYI

Lanre Da Silva Ajayi (LDA) is the founder of eponymous design label. In nine years her passion for fashion has gotten stronger making the label a fashion favourite among the media, celebrities and fashion lovers.

The LDA brand first arrived in the Nigerian fashion scene in 2005 with iconic 1940’s couture signature designs – a result of what has evolved into a much more modern and cutting-edge brand and a full-blown fashion house.
An LDA woman is the personification of sophistication, femininity, brilliance and boldness, which are the inspiration for each of her collections.

The brand has showcased locally in Nigeria and internationally including the Thisday Africa Rising Festival, London (October 2008), ARISE Africa Fashion Festival, South Africa (June 2009) and the New York Couture Fashion Week (September 2009), Arise Magazine Fashion Week, Lagos (March 2011 & 2012), the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012 Made in Africa by Arise magazine, (September 2011), London Fashion Week (February 2012), the Pitti Immagine Florence (June 2012) and MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week (October 2012& 2013).

LDA has been featured in various African and international media including L’Uomo Vogue, Vogue Black, ARISE Magazine, Daily Mail, Essence.com, Fashion Bomb.com, Zimbio.com, WWD.com, ITN News, NTN24.com, ABCNews.com, Reuters UK and Centric/BET.

She holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Coventry University and a Masters degree in Finance from University of Leicester.

For her contributions to the Nigerian and African fashion industry, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi has received numerous accolades and awards for excellence. She is married with two children.

PEACE HYDE

 

Peace Hyde is the Head of Digital Media and Partnership as well as the West African Correspondent at Forbes Africa.

In her current role, she is responsible for working across the company’s digital platform on revenue and audience growth initiatives as well as the editorial head for the West African region.

Prior to Joining Forbes Africa, she was an education senior management executive in the United Kingdom where she also practiced as a science teacher for 7 years.
She is also the founder of leading education non-profit Aim Higher Africa, which has a focus on empowering unemployed youths in Africa to transform their passion into business.

She is also an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in Black Enterprise, Huffington Post, Ebony and Fox News. She was named to the United Nations Most Influential People of African Decent list for 2017.

She also sits on the judging panel for The Chivas Venture Fund as well as being the host of two leading flagship talk shows, Forbes Africa’s My Worst Day with Peace Hyde and Forbes Woman Africa’s Against The Odds on CNBC Africa.

TEWA ONASANYA

Tewa Onasanya a Mindset Coach holds a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Portsmouth, UK and is the Founder / CEO of Exquisite Magazine Services Ltd, the publishers of Exquisite Magazine a Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Magazine for women. Exquisite magazine organises the exquisite magazine cancer walk, an event aimed at increasing the awareness for cervical and breast cancer and free screening for people. In 2009, the exquisite magazine started an only female awards ceremony called the exquisite lady of the year (ELOY) awards, The ELOY awards is aimed at celebrating women of excellence in different fields, empowering, motivating and inspiring others and it holds every November.
