Our value system has been eroded and our society has an awful way of making us think money is everything and that without it you are nothing!
This puts people under enormous pressure at Christmas and throughout the year.
Teach your children that it is the thought that counts, not the amount. Encourage them to use their creative talents and skills and present handmade gifts to loved ones who will treasure their handiwork.
Often personalized gifts or those of great sentimental value do not cost much but will be very much appreciated. Most people appreciate a thoughtful gift that needn’t be expensive.
Here are some examples:
Framed photographs
Artwork from school art class nicely framed
Recording of your child singing or playing an instrument
A piece of poetry
Specially baked cookies
A specially grown potted plant
It is important to teach children valuable lessons that thoughtfulness is far more important than cost. Its also a great way to get them to embrace their gifts and talents and share them with others.
