2019: Has Buhari Finally Declared to Run?

Responding to Senator Basheer Mohammed's letter informing him of his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari gladly welcomed the senator, saying millions of people would soon defect to APC in a matter of weeks. Buhari's letter posted online by his Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, bore the President's mark of thoughts to run in 2019. 

To confirm this calculation, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, weekend, said

Buhari would seek re-election so as to fast-track a South-east’s quest to produce President by 2023. 

 

"...Let me confirm to you that for any thought of Igbo presidency, this is the shortest part. I have been in this game in the last 35, 37 years. 

I can attest to it. I know what it is, I know the permutations. I know what is on ground and I am an election manager...I can tell you without any fear, without any iota of doubt that the shortest path to an Igbo presidency is for Buhari to complete his tenure and now engage the Igbo nation in a decisive move”
