Amosun Inaugurates Committee to Reposition Ogun Civil Service

NIGERIA/OGUN STATE - Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has inaugurated a 15-man steering committee towards repositioning and reforming the state civil and public service, for a greater and faster development in the state.

Inaugurating the committee in Abeokuta, Amosun charged the committee members to be alive to their responsibilities, noting that the success of any government depends largely on the quality of its workforce. "We want to review the way we work in the service and embrace world best practices, to bring back the glory of the Western region," he said.

He reiterated his government's commitment towards leaving a system-driven environment in all the sectors of the economy, where institutions, rather than individuals, are developed. According to him, the state government is collaborating with the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) to reposition the civil service.

In his remarks, the state Head of Service, Abayomi Sobande, appreciated Amosun for his commitment towards the welfare of the civil servants.
