5 OVERALL BEST WAEC CANDIDATES TO GET UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

Five students of Ibiono Comprehensive High School, Edem Urua, Ibiono Ibom LGA.  Akwa-Ibom, Nigeria. who pass their Senior School Certificate Examinations with Alphas and Credits in core and compulsory subjects will get full scholarship to study for degrees in any University within the country.

This will be preceded by the purchase of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) as well as payment for preparatory classes for them.

The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State who announced this gesture today as part of activities marking the end of the WAEC preparatory classes he sponsored for the school said the effort was in support of the laudable effort Governor Udom Emmanuel was making in repositioning the Education sector in Akwa Ibom State for newer positive outcomes.

Comrade Ememobong told the students that the WAEC examinations which begins next week was a significant door which they must walk through with better results to get to newer levels of academic achievements. 

In his words "This WAEC examinations you are about to write will mark a significant point of commencement of your academic journey. I engaged these competent, tested and dedicated teachers to come and prepare you outside of the effort your teachers have made in preparing you for the exams ahead because we want you to succeed. With all we have done, you don't have any excuse to fail. I also had to bring professionals in different fields of endeavor to come and motivate you with their success stories. We have hope in you as the next generation of Akwa Ibom professionals and hence you cannot afford to dash this hope"

Earlier, the Principal of the School, Mr Monday Udofia lauded the effort of the Akwa Ibom PDP spokesman Comrade Ini Ememobong for what he calls his determination to point the light to the young students by sponsoring the prep classes for them, bringing professionals to come and motivate them as well as announcing his intention to sponsor the top 5 students who emerge with Alphas and Credits through University.

The Principal said he notes with gratitude that although Mr Ini Ememobong was not from Edem Urua village, he has made several commitments towards improving the quality of learning for students in the school.

"This same Ini Ememobong had donated a Lawn Mower to the school. Last Month, he informed us of his decision to provide new uniforms to students of this schools as well as 10 exercise books for each student." The Principal said.

In her remarks the wife of the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom, Obongawan Ofonmbuk Inyang while thanking Comrade Ini Ememobong for what she calls his effort in sowing seeds of hope for a better future in the students of the school, charged the students to make good the gesture by putting in the work needed on their part to make them successful in the forthcoming examination.

Those who led motivational talks in the breakaway sessions for Science and Arts students include a young Ph.D holder, Dr Ekemini Ituen of the University of Uyo, a medical Practitioner, Dr Udeme Umana, a journalist and holder of MBA Mr Etorobong Inyang, an actress and On-Air-Personality, Aniebiet Francis among other professionals of note. 

The event featured a lunch with the students, intercessory prayers for their success as ended with the students taking a tour of a large farm owned by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in his village in Use Ndon, Ibiono Ibom LGA, Akwa-Ibom, Nigeria.
