For Jumoke Sanwo, Video Art and Virtual Reality is a huge part of her
existence, a source of livelihood and the reason she will be teaching
at the Days of Dorcas Photography Workshop.

Jumoke Sanwo is a self-taught photographer, who uses
the medium in
conjunction with, text, Video-Art and Virtual Reality as her means of
expression. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English Studies from
the Obafemi Awolowo University.
Her works address aesthetic concerns, with a focus on enlightenment,
religion, technology and mobility, and have been showcased in Amsterdam,
London, New York, Brussels, Berlin, Dubai, Venice-Italy, Lagos, Sudan,
South-Africa, Addis Ababa, Benin, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville and Ghana as
part of group shows and projects.
In 2015, Jumoke was a finalist at the PRISMA Human Rights Award by
the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and
Democratization (EUIC) in collaboration with Lightbox, courtesy of
her project Silence Des Femme. The Series was also
showcased at the AUC headquarters in August 2015 in Addis Ababa to
commemorate the World Humanitarian Day. Her “Faces Project” and Silence
Des Femme was presented under the platform of Invisible Borders at the
2015 Venice Art Biennale “All The Worlds Future”.
In April 2016, she was selected alongside 6 International
Photographers by the GIZ to participate in a project in Berlin/Nigeria
exploring the Value of Religion for Development. This is currently being
showcased in a series of exhibitions across the world stating with
Berlin January 2017.
