Lagos Trains Unemployed Graduates in Automobile Maintenance Skills

NIGERIA/LAGOS- The Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led Lagos State Government has commenced the training of some unemployed graduates in Auto-Maintenance and Repair skills as part of its policy of job creation for unemployed youths in the State. 


Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for
the 50 beneficiaries of the training, the state Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Pharma. Uzamat Akinbile –Yussuf said the dearth of white collar jobs which accounts for the high rate of unemployment among university graduates led the present administration to initiate valuable and qualitative vocational skills training opportunities. 

She said the ministry is collaborating with Automedics Training Institute to train the 50 screened/tested unemployed graduates for six months in - Auto Diagnosis, Auto Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) as well as Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Maintenance and Repairs. 

The commissioner added that participants, after the programme, would be qualified for an internship with haulage, transport and heavy generator maintenance and repair companies that are associates of Automedics or be gainfully employed in the...
