What a line up we have for the African Fashion Week London's first day showcases!
Designers
from Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, USA, Angola and South
Africa - all competing to steal the show with blazing menswear, plus
sized collections and innovative knitwear and award winning student
collections.

Reminisces
of AFWL2015 return with a special sponsored showcase from the South
African Kwa Zulu Natal Fashion Council. Expect to see designs made only
in the Kwa Zulu provinces as well as a special exhibition to discover
and buy.

Student Designer and Tanzanian, EVELYNE BABIN
has just competed in London Graduate Fashion Week Gala Show in which
she won the Hillary Alexander Trailblazer Award sponsored by Swarovski.

KACHIBLAZERS is a luxury UK based fashion
brand specialising in Afrocentric jackets and blazers. Prints sourced
from Nigeria and Ghana paired with European silhouettes seriously get
our attention!

Knitwear
designer, Michelle Walden McPhee from New York specialises in knitwear
that compliments and makes a statement for all women. See MICHIKNITS on the catwalk at 6pm, Friday 10 August.

MIA style
story begins with African creatives. The brand collaborates with a
number of highly skilled tailors from all over Africa. Showcasing
formal-wear and street-wear, each style breaks creative molds and
epitomises the perfect fit.

ONYX BY VALENTINA
creates art in the wearable form. Through the use of handmade
bead-work, each design tells a story. Using Onyx - the black
semi-precious stone - the collection epitomizes the black woman adorned.

The
classic Freemasons' Hall will be the backdrop of Africa Fashion Week
London 2017. Built between 1927 and 1933, it is an homage to the Art
Deco era.
Freemason's Hall is already venue to LFW's off schedule shows, Fashion
Scout; but set against the ornate interior, AFWL will be at home inside
the the stunning style of the Grand Temple space, the Vestibules and
Foyers.
Expect to see Designer Exhibitions offering 'straight off the catwalk' bargains, jewellery, accessories and footwear. |
