West Ham are poised to make their eighth signing of the summer by
bringing Lille midfielder Thiago Maia to the London Stadium, according
to SunSport.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has been searching for a new defensive midfielder and Maia could be announced later today.
The move comes after Senegal international Cheikhou Kouyate was sold to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
Thiago Maia, 21, won gold with Brazil at the 2016 Olympics.
Although Lille had a release clause in excess of £50million for Maia,
the Ligue 1 club are in financial meltdown ahead of the new season and
need to raise cash quickly.
