Most people put off writing a will as it is such a scary thought. When I wrote my first will at 35, it felt really wierd.
Considering the worst case scenario, my own mortality, imagining what would happen if anything happened to me....it wasn’t a pleasant thought.

I’ve since realised that estate planning
isn’t just about death, indeed it’s much more about LIFE; your life and the lives of your loved ones. I now regard this to be one of the most fundamental parts of my financial plan.
I review my estate plan on my birthday every 2-3 years or when assets are sold, new ones included, as beneficiaries reach milestones etc.
I regard it to be a wonderful tool of life, seeing the progress i am making or when I fall back, identifying weaknesses in the plan. It’s about staying close to your overall financial plan, and reviewing it periodically.
Over time you will find that a will may not be sufficient to capture your intentions and A Trust is an effective tool.
Thanks to all those that have registered for “Wills don’t kill; An Estate Planning Seminar.” We wondered if we would have any interest; many readers wrote in to say that recent deaths of prominent global leaders; Aretha, John Macain, Kofi Annan made it very real.
