The giant social Facebook networking site’s Messenger app now lets users unsend chats they
didn’t mean to or regret sending — as long as they act fast.
The quick-fix, which took effect Tuesday, allows 10 minutes from the time a message is sent to remove it.
“Have
you ever accidentally sent a message to the wrong
group of friends, mistyped something, or simply wanted to remove a message in a chat? You’re not the only one!," Facebook explains in its announcement of the new option.
That
means you may still find yourself in the awkward position of having to
explain to the intended recipient why you retracted a message.
group of friends, mistyped something, or simply wanted to remove a message in a chat? You’re not the only one!," Facebook explains in its announcement of the new option.
The feature works whether you send a message to one person or a group.
Within the 10-minute time frame, just tap the message you want to remove and select the option “Remove for Everyone.”
While
the message will be removed, weirdly, it’ll be “replaced by text
alerting everyone in the conversation the message was removed,”
according to Facebook.
