As part of activities to commemorate 2019 World Glaucoma Day, Lagos State Ministry of Health in partnership with some eye care partners would hold a public lecture to create necessary awareness and educate citizens about glaucoma and other preventable blinding conditions.
The public lecture with the theme:
“Beat Invisible Glaucoma” would hold on March 13, 2019 at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa Secretariat in Ikeja at 10am prompt.
A renowned glaucoma specialist and Chair of the Glaucoma Society of Nigeria, Prof. Adeola Onakoya, would be the Guest Speaker.
“World Glaucoma Week is an annual event celebrated worldwide to create awareness and educate people about glaucoma, its prevention and management and this year’s World Glaucoma Week is from March 11 to 16, 2019," said the Director of the Medical Administration, Training and Programmes, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Funmilayo Shokunbi.
While expressing optimism that the public lecture would be educative and impactful, Shokunbi added that some of the other topics to be treated include: “All You Need to Know about Glaucoma” and “Roles of Stakeholders in the Management of Glaucoma."
